Pinehurst Transitions to Four-Day School Week

By Ben Pellow

Pinehurst School is pleased to announce the successful implementation of a four-day school week beginning in the 2025–2026 academic year. Effective immediately, the school operates Monday through Thursday, with classroom hours from 8:05 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This transition reflects the district's commitment to supporting students, families, and staff while continuing to meet the rigorous academic requirements established by the Oregon Department of Education (ODE).

District Administrator Emily Cozza stated: "We are incredibly excited about this change and the many benefits it offers to our school community. By adopting a four-day instructional week, we are able to provide students and families with more flexibility and valuable time together without compromising the quality of education our students receive."

Goals of the Four-Day Week

  • Maintaining high academic performance through optimized instructional time
  • Creating more opportunities for community engagement and learning outside the classroom
  • Supporting student wellness by allowing more time for rest, family, and extracurricular enrichment

The school redesigned its instructional schedule to ensure that all ODE instructional time requirements are met or exceeded. Pinehurst will continue to monitor student progress and engagement throughout the year and evaluate the effectiveness of this schedule.
