Library

Reading is one of the most powerful things we can give a child, and the Pinehurst library is where that gift takes shape.  Once a week students visit our newly improved library. Students have the opportunity to check out independent reading books each week ranging from non-fiction picks to graphic novels with the support and guidance of our dynamic Instructional Assistant, Amanda Holbo and Library Aide, Terri Ayers. 

In addition, we are thrilled to bring the joy of reading to life at Pinehurst in our Annex, which houses our unique Book Vending Machine, made possible through generous grant funding. Students earn special tokens as positive incentives for both academic achievements and exemplary behavior.  This exciting addition to our school keeps students motivated, engaged, and genuinely interested in building their personal libraries and passion for literacy. 

As students grow, library time includes instruction in research skills: how to identify credible sources, organize information, and synthesize ideas into their own work. These skills support every academic subject and prepare students for lifelong learning.

We believe reading for fun is just as important as reading for school. Our library collection includes fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, poetry, and more — curated to reflect the interests and reading levels of every student. Students are encouraged to choose books they love.
